Our First Home!

Sunday, January 25, 2015

We lived at the apartment for a little over 1 year and decided to purchase our first home! We opted for a small starter home to make it easier on ourselves and save money for our dream home in the future.

Luckily, Adam's sister was purchasing a new home & hers was going on the market! We were in luck, it was perfect for us!

We actually accumulated a LOT of stuff while living in the apartment and needed a larger place for storage, this suburban 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom home with a yard was exactly what we were looking for! The apartment was incredible, but we quickly learned that being in the center of town was not for us. We quickly favored moving to quiet, suburban living, and OH what a difference!

Our First Apartment

Sunday, January 25, 2015

Like any other girl, I was so thrilled when Adam asked me to move in with him! It was the next step in the relationship!!

This is the first time both of us had ever lived with anyone else, so we wanted the experience to be special. We looked and looked and looked for an apartment that stood out to us. We desired somewhere safe, modern, and spacious that we could call our own.

At the beginning of the search we were very hopeful and thought it would be easy peasy! As it turned out, we seen some pretty filthy places. Then to make it 100 times worse, we seen some tenants who carried guns on them at all times. At one point, I was just praying to make it out of the place alive, as a fight went down in front of our eyes because a tenant was "looking out for us" and told us about the cockroaches in the cabinets. Let me just make it clear that we don't live in a large city as your impression might be telling you.

When meeting with the landlord for another potential apartment, we spent almost 3 hours with him as we went to tell us about how he spies on his tenants from his home across the street. He even mentioned about how he busted a roof party and seemed very proud of it.

After going through all of our options we decided to wait. Patience is a virtue because our DREAM apartment happened to be on the market & we snagged it!

Our dream apartment is this cute 1 bathroom, 1 bedroom, laundry room/closet, and studio dining/kitchen open floor plan. This place is in the center of town which makes it close to everything. The BEST part is it that it's completely updated, modern, uses an access code to enter, has an elevator, and is exactly what we were looking for!!

Week 2 P90X! Are you still Motivated?

Tuesday, January 13, 2015

It is currently WEEK 2 of P90X and I've been thinking... a LOT of people come to me and say that it's easier for them to do the workouts than it is to follow the meal plan...or that they don't know what they need to be eating.. I cannot stress enough how important it is to follow the meal plan guide that comes with your workout. In the guide, it tells you what to eat, when to eat, and how to cook it. The only thing they don't do it shop for you or feed you. What more do you want? A lot of people have this mentality: "Well I kinda know what I should be eating." If your not 100% sure, then you're not getting 100% results, that can be the difference between a size 6 and a size 8!

Let me tell you that I wanted to see if what I was preaching was correct or I was just overreacting. Well I completed a workout program where I did not follow any meal plan, I just packed it in...Anything that I wanted! Guess what my results were.....I lost 5lbs in 90 days. What a waste of time! In comparison, when I did P90X while following the meal plan, I lost 30lbs in 90 days. So you choose, you either go all in, or don't bother wasting your time if you're not 100% serious about getting results.

So I'm still going strong, I committed to no cheat meals for three weeks. Do you know how much will-power that takes? It is unreal how much of a mental challenge a weight loss journey is rather than a physical struggle. I did not have even one cheat meal, snack or sugary drink. Did I have cravings? Of course I did, its normal, I'm human; I wanted everything I could think of so far in desperation! Even the dogs were getting treats and I had to watch them enjoy it. BUT, I have lost 4lbs so far this week and it keeps me going!

Typically, you should throw out all your junk food, outta sight, outta mind! Of course I have a boyfriends who is not dieting or working out, so I have tons of goodies hiding in the cupboards! For many of your, the struggle will be real...most of you will be on this journey alone and the popping of a chip bag or the crunch of a cookie, will start to really test you. On the plus side, he really supports me and will occasionally meal prep, cook, and shop for me. If you're like me and you have people around you, especially in your house...always remember the reason WHY you're doing this. You are doing this for a reason, as soon as you start to think that you could stop, you will be holding yourself back from TRUE happiness. The only one you are competing against is yourself, stop being the enemy.

2015 New Year Resolution

Friday, January 9, 2015

Hey everyone! I have to be honest and as hard as it is to admit, I gained weight. I had a really INCREDIBLE P90X transformation and I thought I would NEVER gain that weight back EVER! Look what actually happened....I gained it back plus 50lbs more!

I am so embarrassed to admit my weight gain to you, but I need you all to hold me accountable and I will do the same for you. Now that we're starting off with a New Year, I figured it would be a good idea to get back in shape and commit. It isn't going to be easy, but I will do it...my goal is to lose 96lbs in 2015. You can call it a New Year's Resolution, but really I want to be a great role model to you all. It's just time for a change. These long and cold winter days are hard on everybody, but with Spring around the corner and a few weddings to go to this Summer, my reason for getting in shape just got more real!

When I did P90x, 3 years ago, I followed that diet to a "T", and I did every single workout. I was focused and determined back then, I had a CLEAR DIRECTION!!!! So I guess I owe it to myself and all of you to take a leap and challenge myself again. Below are my starting measurements and before pictures...which NEED to be taken so you can measure your progress. Remember always focus on progress, not perfection!

Starting Measurements (Start Date: 01/05/2015)

Weight: 221

Waist: 34
Hips: 47
Chest: 42.5
Right Arm: 14
Left Arm: 14
Right Leg: 27
Left Leg: 26.5
Body Fat %: 38.2
Pant Size: 16
30 Day Goals:

It's important to always have MEASURABLE short term goals instead of hoping for crazy unattainable results. It's realistic for me to lose 10lbs and 12" by 02/03/2015.

Fit Tip: Focus on INCHES over POUNDS!

Inches are what you see in the mirror, pounds are in your mind. Only you know your weight!
